Managing product flows in today’s globalised world can be challenging. Our Chain of Custody (CoC) Certification simplifies this process ensuring accurate tracking and transfer of product claims and relevant information throughout your supply chain.
The certification programme categorises materials into two types: (1) those with the Preferred by Nature Certification and (2) those evaluated against our requirements for EUDR.
We offer two CoC models, allowing companies to choose the one that suits their needs:
- Segregation: Maintain physical separation of certified materials from non-certified ones, guaranteeing purity and transparency.
- Mass balance: Track the proportional mix of certified and non-certified materials within a defined system, offering flexibility for larger volumes.
EUDR alignment
To facilitate conformance with the EUDR, we have included requirements in the Standard for the preservation of geolocation data along the supply chain. The claims we allow in the CoC Standard follow a straightforward and simple model, facilitating clear and effective communication about the product and the scope of the CoC certification.
This certification is applicable to all types of companies, from farm and forest managers to processing entities and retailers.

Chain of Custody and Traceability Standard
This Standard applies to organisations verified by Preferred by Nature who want to make claims about the verified status of the products they sell. This Standard has taken into account the EU Deforestation Regulation, and includes specific requirements and guidance related to it.
All organisations taking ownership of verified goods from the land use level until and including production and/or packaging of the final product need to be verified to conform with these requirements. Organisations involved only in the transportation, distribution and/or sale of final products that do not change anything in the final products or their packaging do not need to undergo verification.
Depending on the activities, some parts of the Standard may not apply to all organisations.
